The device for forming thread on a cylindrical case contains a threaded roller and a threaded mandrel, while at least one recess with a geometric shape is made in a mandrel case, which ensures the formation of thread on the cylindrical case of the metal lid, when a lateral force is applied by the specified threaded roller to the outer surface of the cylindrical case. The method for forming the metal lid includes leveling the metal lid by means of internal and external tools of the specified press and applying a side load to the outer surface of the cylindrical case of the metal lid using the threaded roller of the specified device for forming thread.

EFFECT: obtaining a metal lid for sealing a metal bottle made using smaller amount of material (for example, with a thinner wall) compared to a known metal bottle.
