FIELD: nuclear engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a fast neutron nuclear reactor with natural circulation of a liquid metal coolant. The installation contains an active zone in the reactor vessel, on the vessel there are inlet and outlet pipes connected to circulation pipelines, and the natural circulation circuit also includes a volume compensator and a primary circuit heat exchanger located significantly above the core. The inlet pipe is connected to the pipeline of the coolant cooled in the heat exchanger and is located in the lower part of the reactor vessel. The outlet pipe is connected to the pipeline of the coolant heated in the reactor and is located in the upper part of the reactor vessel. The height difference between the core and the primary heat exchanger corresponds to the condition of providing the required natural circulation head for safe cooling of the core at a given power. The ultimate heat sink can be a high-pressure steam generator, which is part of a two-circuit process flow diagram of NPP.

EFFECT: invention provides the possibility of creating low-power nuclear power reactors with a passive heat removal system, the reliability of which is increased by eliminating possible emergencies associated with blackout of circulation pumps, as well as with failure of pumps and shut-off and control valves in the cooling circuit.
