SUBSTANCE: damper (1) for fittings of furniture or domestic appliances has a body (2), located wherein with the possibility of directional linear displacement is a piston connected with a piston rod (3) and dividing the internal space (20) in the body (2) into two chambers, wherein at least one flow channel (9) is made on or in the piston, interconnecting both chambers, wherein a throttle element (6) is provided, retaining a small cross section of at least one flow channel (9) in the damping position when moving the piston in a first direction in order to create large damping forces, and increasing the cross section of at least one flow channel (9) when moving the piston in a second direction opposite to the first direction in order to reduce the damping forces by moving the throttle element (6), wherein the throttle element (6) is pressed into the damping position by at least one spring element (72).
EFFECT: creation of a damper for use in furniture or domestic appliances.
