The assembly comprises the main frame (12) and the support frame (1) of the rod, designed to support the rod (10) and suspended from the main frame (12) so that the support frame (1) of the rod can rotate in a transverse plane around the longitudinal axis of rotation provided at the pivot point. The support frame (1) of the rod contains the first subframe (2) connecting to the main frame (12), the second subframe (3) supported by the first subframe (2) on support sections provided in the transverse direction from opposite sides of the pivot point, and the drive (7) connecting to the first and second subframes and able to operate so that the support sections can be moved relative to the pivot point, thereby increasing the distance in the transverse direction between the pivot point and the reference section on one side of the pivot point and simultaneously reducing the distance between the pivot point and the reference section on the opposite side of the pivot point, and vice versa. The method for controlling the operation of the rod installation unit contains stages in which an agricultural machine is moved along the ground, measuring signals are received into a control unit functionally connected to the drive (7), and the measuring signals indicate the angle of inclination caused by uneven ground, and control signals are generated and control signals are output to the drive (7) to activate the drive (7) depending on the measuring signal, so that depending on the angle of inclination, the support sections move relative to the pivot point, thereby increasing the distance in the transverse direction between the pivot point and the reference section on one side of the pivot point and simultaneously reducing the distance between the pivot point and the reference section on the opposite side of the pivot point, and vice versa.
