SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a dust collector for a vacuum cleaner and to a vacuum cleaner. The dust collector for the vacuum cleaner contains a dust collection bag made of breathable material and a connecting plate surrounding an inlet of the dust collection bag. The connecting plate is made with the possibility of correctly positioning the inlet in the vacuum cleaner by inserting the connecting plate into a vacuum cleaner holder. The connecting plate contains a front surface with an air flow hole made in it, the first side adapted for insertion into the vacuum cleaner holder, the second side located opposite it, the third side connecting the first and the second sides, and the fourth side connecting the first and the second sides, wherein the first side connects the third and the fourth sides. The connecting plate contains two control holes. The third side is located at the first distance/radius from the hole center, and the fourth side is located at the second distance/radius from the hole center, and at least one of control holes is located at the first distance/radius from the hole center.

EFFECT: improving the attachment of the dust collection bag to the vacuum cleaner during use, removing the dust collection bag and/or creating a more universal method for determining the absence or incorrect installation of the dust collector.
