FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: inventions group relates to the field of mechanical engineering, in particular to fuel tanks. The fuel tank includes a body, two bottoms, stringers, frame. The body is made in the form of a cylindrical shell. Stringers are located along the inside of the body. The frame is located around the circumference of the hull from its inner side and perpendicular to the stringers. The stringers are connected to the body by friction stir welding. The frame is mechanically attached to the surface of the stringers. Stringers and frames are made of aluminum alloys in the form of thin-walled profiles. A method for manufacturing a fuel tank includes providing a body, placing stringers, joining the stringers to the body by friction stir welding, placing the frame over the stringers, and mechanically connecting the frame to the stringers.
EFFECT: weight reduction is achieved.
