SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method for measuring the rotation speed of the shaft of an aircraft engine. The method for measuring the rotation speed of the shaft of an aircraft engine based on a rectangular signal comprises the following stages: receiving a variable rotation speed detection signal at the contacts of the phonic wheel sensor; converting said variable signal into a rectangular signal; comparing multiple previously saved samples of the period of the rectangular signal with the lower and upper limits of the period in order to determine valid counts with a value in the range between the two limits; if the amount of valid counts is greater than the first threshold value, determining the required period of the rectangular signal based on said valid counts; and at least provided that the number of valid counts is less than the first threshold value, a set of count sums is calculated, and the average value of a set containing a number of valid counts of the period and a number of sums from said set of sums of at least two counts is calculated.
EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of measurement of the speed of an aircraft engine.
