FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, in particular, to production of 13Cr-grade ultra-low carbon stainless steel containing, wt.%: C≤0.03 and Cr 12.5 to 13.5. The method includes purifying molten steel by transferring impurities into the slag, followed by vacuum-oxygen decarburisation, conducting vacuum decarburisation, conducting vacuum holding slag removal and deoxygenation wherein the basicity of slag is 5 to 10, and the mass ratio of Cao to Al2O3 in the slag is 1.6 to 2.4, conducting vacuum breaking wherein aluminum wire is fed, conducting vacuum treatment and secondary vacuum breaking.
EFFECT: invention allows for stable control of Ds inclusions and oxygen content in the molten steel and production of steel castings without the stage of treatment with calcium.
