FIELD: nuclear power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of recycling radioactive waste (RW) generated during the destruction of irradiated fuel assemblies (hereinafter – IFA) of fast neutron reactors (FNR) by induction slag remelting in a cold crucible. A plant for induction slag remelting in a cold crucible is developed, in which a metal ingot of a given length is obtained, a specially selected flux is used, based on Al2O3-MgO-Fe2O3-CaO system that does not contain volatile components, which ensures the purification of structural materials of IFA and the formation of slag that does not contain either silicates or fluorides. The ingot is completely pulled out of the crucible and used to extract and return to a nuclear fuel cycle fissionable materials (FM) of structural materials (SM) of IFA to a content not exceeding 0.001 wt.%.
EFFECT: invention allows, using a small inductor and a water-cooled copper bottom of the crucible with a vertical displacement power drive, to obtain ingots of various lengths significantly exceeding the length of the heating zone, due to the need to heat up to high temperature and a small power source of high-frequency power.
