FIELD: on-order picking systems.
SUBSTANCE: system for picking goods on order contains a continuous conveyor having a carrier configured to transport goods. The continuous conveyor is connected on one side to the conveyor and connected on the opposite side to a plurality of additional conveyors that contain a plurality of shipping containers. The plurality of shipping containers are configured to receive one or more goods being transported by the carrier. The continuous conveyor is configured to perform the actions of: selectively placing one or more goods into a pre-selected shipping container from a plurality of shipping containers; and selectively picking up and transporting a preselected shipping container containing one or more pre-placed goods.
EFFECT: on-order picking system is highly flexible, combining the functionality of filling shipping containers with pre-selected items and the functionality of storing and sorting said filled shipping containers in a very limited space.
