FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an apparatus for producing hydrogen and acetylene by high-temperature pyrolysis of methane, comprising an electric arc heater, comprising three arc chambers with electrodes, solenoids to create magnetic field arranged so that electrodes are in magnetic fields, quenching chamber with cooling water supply means. At that, the arc chambers are tightly connected to the mixing chamber-reactor, equipped with the methane supply means into its internal volume, at that, the installation additionally contains the methane flow rate control device, respectively, connected to the methane radial supply means into the arc chambers, and the mixing chamber-reactor is connected to the quenching chamber. Invention also relates to a method of producing hydrogen and acetylene.
EFFECT: technical result of the group of inventions consists in significant increase in output of acetylene and hydrogen at maximum conversion of methane and increase in degree of hydrogen extraction from methane (more than twice).
