FIELD: polymers.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a group of inventions: a polymer and a method for producing a polymer. The method for producing a polymer includes stages a) and b): a) condensation of at least one component a1) constituting at least one compound selected from N-(hydroxyalkyl)amines by the formula (I.a)

wherein A is independently selected from C1-C6-alkylene, R1, R1*, R2, R2*, R3 and R3* represent hydrogen, to produce a polyether with residual hydroxyl groups; b) reaction of part of the residual hydroxyl groups of the polyether produced at stage a) with at least one alkylene oxide, wherein the ratio of alkylene oxide to the sum of amounts of residual hydroxyl groups is from > 0:1 to < 1:1 [mol/mol].

EFFECT: produced polymers have improved efficiency in the field of fat removal at a reduced temperature and therefore, can be successfully used in cleaning compositions for manual and/or automatic washing.
