SUBSTANCE: invention relates to video encoding and decoding. Disclosed is a method of decoding an image, which may include steps of determining whether to use a combined prediction mode for a current block; obtaining a first and a second prediction block for a current block when a combined prediction mode is used for the current block; and obtaining a third prediction block for the current block based on the calculation of the weighted sum of the first and second prediction block. Prediction element can be an element which is broken down in a shape corresponding to at least one shape from a square, a rectangle or the like of the same size within one coding element, or it may be any prediction element among prediction elements broken down within one coding element, which is broken down to form a shape and/or size different from the shape and/or size of the prediction element.

EFFECT: providing a combined prediction method, in which several prediction methods are combined when encoding/decoding a video signal.
