SUBSTANCE: invention relates to image processing and, in particular, to geometric separation. Disclosed is an encoding method implemented by an encoding device, wherein the method comprises: obtaining a split mode index value for a current coding unit; obtaining an angle index angleIdx value for the current coding unit in accordance with the division mode index value and a table which sets the angle index angleIdx value based on the division mode index value; setting the partIdx index value in accordance with the angleIdx index value; and encoding the current coding unit in accordance with the index value partIdx.
EFFECT: improved compression and decompression technology, which improve the compression ratio practically without sacrificing image quality.
