SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of communications. The effect is achieved by configuring the first set of forwarding elements in the first and second public cloud multi-tenant data centers to implement the first virtual wide area network (WAN) for the first organization, where said first virtual WAN connects multiple machines running in a set of two or more machine locations of the first organization and configures a second set of forwarding elements in the first and second public cloud data centers with multiple tenants to implement a second virtual WAN for the second organization, where said the second virtual WAN connects multiple machines running in a set of two or more machine locations in the second organization.
EFFECT: enabling a virtual network over multiple public cloud data centers of one or more public cloud providers in one or more regions, optimizing message routing for the best end-to-end performance, reliability, and security while striving to minimize the routing of traffic over the Internet.
