FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of preparing samples of solid mineral fuel. Disclosed is a method of preparing samples of solid mineral fuel for X-ray fluorescence analysis, which includes heating a mixture of a sample and a flux in a crucible of noble metals or their alloys, the obtained melt is formed with cooling to room temperature, wherein the sample used is solid mineral fuel, which is ground to a size of less than 100 mcm and placed in a crucible, at the bottom of which a flux is previously placed, which is a mixture of lithium tetraborate and metaborate in ratio of 1:5 to 1:3, then a non-wetting lithium bromide additive is added, in amount of 0.5 % of total weight of sample of solid mineral fuel and flux, after which the crucible is heated at temperature of 800 to 830 °C in an oxidative atmosphere and at a heating rate of 10 to 20 °C/min and holding until complete oxidation of carbon, further, it is additionally heated from 1,000 to 1,100 °C with holding for 2 to 5 minutes and constant mixing, after which the melt is poured into platinum molds and cooled to room temperature.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain samples for X-ray fluorescence analysis, homogeneous in composition, and reduces time for preparing samples of solid mineral fuel.
