FIELD: foundry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to foundry production, in particular, to manufacture of a sleeve used as an embedded element when casting a cylinder block of an engine. The cylinder liner for casting with embedded elements includes a base and multiple protrusions on the external periphery of the base. The size and shape of the protrusions provide the flow index YI of the molten metal from 2.2 to 14.5. The flow index of the molten metal is determined from the mathematical expression: YI=[St×V/A]/Pav, wherein St is the relative area of the upper sections of the protrusions, %; V is the volume of penetration of molten metal, mm3; A is the surface area of the external periphery of the base of the cylinder liner, mm2; Pav is the average distance from surface to surface between the upper sections of the protrusions, mm.
EFFECT: increase in the strength of connection of the sleeve with the cylinder block is provided due to the reduction in the cavities occurring at the site of connection between the external periphery of the base of the sleeve and the cylinder block.
