FIELD: pipe production.

SUBSTANCE: invention is used for the detection of defects in a complex pipe product. The essence of the invention is that an automatic device for non-destructive testing for the detection of defects of a complex pipe product contains: at least one ultrasonic converter with a position determined by longitudinal position (L) and position (A) along the circumference along the complex pipe product, and located with the possibility of emitting ultrasonic beam (Em) with emission orientation θei(L, A); control and processing electronic components containing a circuit for actuating a sensor and receiving response signals, and at least one gain stage with a gain factor (Gi(L; A)), time filter module (24) made with the possibility of applying the position and width of time window Fei(L; A) in time filter (FTi(L; A)) to echo signal (Dv, Ds), while control and processing electronic components are made with the possibility of determining at least one parameter (Vi) of a splash of ultrasonic pulses depending on longitudinal position (L) and/or position (A) along the circumference of the ultrasonic converter in order to detect defects in a pipe wall, wherein the specified at least one parameter is selected from orientation of splash emission (θei(L; A)), gain factor (Gi(L; A)) or the position and width of time windows Fei(L; A) in time filter (FTi(L; A)).

EFFECT: increase in the reliability of detection of various defects in pipe products having complex shapes.
