SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of medicine, in particular, to anesthesiology and resuscitation, pediatric surgery, pediatrics and concerns a method for assessing intestinal dysfunction of newborn children in critical conditions. The method includes: determination of the volume of stagnant contents in the stomach and determination of the content of the fatty acid butyrylcarnitine, amino acid citrulline in the blood, after which the signs are evaluated in points, namely: the content of butyrylcarnitine less than 0.17 mmol/l or more than 0.25 mmol/l is estimated at 0.2 points, 0.17-0.25 mmol/l - at -0.2 points; the citrulline content of less than 10 mmol/l or more than 20 mmol/l is estimated at 0.2 points, 10-20 mmol/l at -0.2 points; the volume of stagnant stomach contents of less than 4 ml is estimated at 1 point, 4-6 ml at 3 points, more than 6 ml at 5 points. If the sum is less than 1 point, stage 1 of intestinal dysfunction is diagnosed, from 1 to 3 points, stage 2 of intestinal dysfunction, more than 3 points, stage 3 of intestinal dysfunction.
