METHOD FOR PREDICTION OF RESPIRATORY DISTRESS COURSE IN NEWBORNS OLDER THAN 35 WEEKS OF GESTATION Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC A61B5/08 A61B5/145

Abstract RU 2830183 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to neonatology, and can be used to predict the course of respiratory distress in newborns older than 35 weeks of gestation. When CPAP therapy is performed in the delivery room for 20 minutes, respiratory failure is assessed by modified Downes and Silverman scores. If Silverman score is 3-4 points and Downes score is 1 point higher, as well as presence of oxygen dependence with oxygen demand with FiO2 up to 40%, severe course of respiratory distress and high risk of admission to intensive care unit of newborns is predicted.

EFFECT: method enables predicting the course of respiratory distress in various pathologies, making a timely decision on the effectiveness of the therapy and transferring the child to the intensive care unit or continuing CPAP, thereby selecting an adequate therapeutic approach and reducing the severity of respiratory distress by assessing the combination of the most significant indicators.
