SUBSTANCE: invention relates to techniques for nuclear medicine and can be used in the diagnosis of a number of cardiological and oncological diseases by positron emission tomography. The strontium-82/rubidium-82 generator includes a housing that is protected from ionizing radiation and contains a container with a protective insert, a generator column, and inlet and outlet tubes placed in the inner grooves of the insert. The internal space of the sealed container around the generator column with sealed covers with filters, inlet and outlet pipes is filled with heat-resistant epoxy resin. Sections of the inlet and outlet tubes above the sealed container are located in the upper cavity of the protective housing under the protective insert and are curved, and the protective insert is made of one-piece, solid lead. The generator manufacturing method includes filling the generator column with an ion-exchange material consisting of an inorganic sorbent of hydrated tin (IV) oxide in the form of a suspension in an aqueous ammonium hydroxide solution and containing tin hydroxide in the suspension.

EFFECT: increasing the efficiency and reliability of the strontium-82/rubidium-82 generator, the duration of its operation, a significant increase in its ion-exchange capacity relative to strontium, which reduces the breakthrough of strontium-82 and strontium-85 during its operation.
