SUBSTANCE: invention relates to hydrodynamics and can be used for hydraulic optimization of bundles of parallel elements with variable length configuration. Method of hydraulic optimization of elements with variable length configuration includes the following operations. Filling the top of the inlet pipe and the working vessel formed by the outer side surfaces of the bundle elements, the inner surfaces of the housing and the bottom with liquid. Determination of flow area and hydraulic diameter of bundle channels, measurement of flow temperature. Bottom is quickly tilted down from the lower end part of the housing to ensure pumping of liquid in the inlet pipe and channels of the bundle formed by the elements of the bundle and the housing. Determination of the final stationary mutual position of the bundle elements after draining the liquid from the inlet pipe and the bundle channels. Measurement of time for draining liquid from inlet pipe and bundle channels. Primary processing of measured parameters. Determination of Reynolds number in bundle channels. Device for hydraulic optimization of flow part of parallel elements with variable length configuration comprises inlet pipe, housing, upper and lower spacers, bundle elements, ledges, bottom, rotary assembly and retainer. Bundle elements are located inside the housing coaxially with it. Bottom is arranged with contact with lower end part of housing. Upper and lower projections on the end parts of the bundle elements are installed respectively with a stop in the upper and lower spacers. Side surfaces of the bundle elements are installed with a gap relative to the adjacent bundle elements and the housing with the possibility of free rotation around the longitudinal axes. Inlet pipe, housing and bundle elements are oriented vertically.

EFFECT: reduced time for experimental determination of mutual position of bundle elements with variable length configuration to ensure minimum hydraulic resistance of its flow section.
