FIELD: materials processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to abrasive processing of materials and can be used to control the degree of caricature of a material after abrasive processing using diamond or cubic boron nitride. An image of the treated surface is obtained using a microscope using the back-scattered electron method. To estimate the number of cartoonized particles, additional image processing is performed in the form of changing the contrast and brightness of the image, then the number of the darkest (black) pixels in the bitmap image is determined using software, followed by determining the degree of cartooning by the expression: , where S is the degree of caricature, C1 is the total number of image pixels, C2 is the number of dark pixels.
EFFECT: increasing the reliability and accuracy of assessing the degree of caricature of the surface during abrasive processing.
