FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of polycrystalline abrasive elements. Colloidal coat from matrix precursor material containing hydrated oxide or metal, or metalloid is applied on superhard abrasive particles with surfaces prone to formation of chemical bonds with oxides. Coated abrasive particles are subjected to thermal treatment in gas atmosphere, compacted and sintered at pressure and temperature whereat they are crystalographically or thermodynamically stable. Polycrystalline abrasive element incorporates superhard abrasives that posses grains of micrometre, sub micrometre or nanometre range, dispersed in micrometre, sub micrometre or nanometre matrix materials.
EFFECT: produced material features homogeneous fine-grain structure, high impact viscosity, high temperature hardness and strength.
