FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method of applying markings on a blank for lugs, which is used to produce lugs used on ends of metal cans, and to a press for making lugs. Proposed method comprises feeding lug blank into lug press with male die and female die. Male die comprises a set of protruding elements, and female die comprises a corresponding set of recessed elements, so that the elements interact to make said markings by debossing on sections of the lug blank in the lugs forming areas, which, when the lugs are attached to the can end, face outward. Elements are such that when the press is completely closed, distance between at least a part of each of the projecting elements and at least a part of each of the corresponding recessed elements is less than the thickness of the blank for the lugs at the said sections in the lug formation areas.
EFFECT: disclosed is a method of applying markings on a blank for lugs.
