METHOD OF TREATING PURULENT SPONDYLODISCITIS OF THORACIC SPINE Russian patent published in 2022 - IPC A61B17/00 A61B17/56

Abstract RU 2768610 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to neurosurgery, traumatology and orthopaedics, and can be used for treating purulent spondylodiscitis of the thoracic spine. Vertebral body is percutaneously punctured with a Jamshidi needle, a needle mandrel is taken out and a metal exchange conductor is brought into the vertebral body; after fixation of the guide in the bone tissue, the Jamshidi needle is removed. Double-lumen balloon catheter is brought along the guide; catheter is fixed by inflating the catheter balloon until the canal formed by the Jamshidi needle is closed. Guide wire is removed, the catheter is fixed to the skin; then an antibacterial preparation is delivered through the double-lumen balloon catheter with the help of an automatic syringe-injector.

EFFECT: method provides a safe and long-term continuous antibacterial therapy in the spinal motion segment, with primary accumulation of high concentrations of the preparation locally in the pathological focus and its further distribution through the circulatory system by administering the preparation.
