FIELD: beekeeping.

SUBSTANCE: method for winter maintenance of Caucasian honey bees in conditions of the south of Russia includes formation of a nest with honeycomb frames with brood, fodders and with limitation of the formed nest with diaphragms with installation of heaters. Method also includes inspection of nest to monitor uniform distribution of fodders and replenishment of nest in case of their shortage, manipulation of honeycomb frames in a beehive by their rearrangement, replenishment or extraction. Formation of nests of families of Caucasian honey bees in winter is carried out in the first decade of September by assembling nests from honeycomb frames in an amount that provides dense brooding by bees and rare brooding of honeycomb frame behind cold diaphragm in form of plywood sheet so that queen stops egg-laying earlier. At the same time, all insulation materials are removed from the beehive, and a stock of fodder in an amount of not less than 2.5 kg is laid in each honeycomb frame. Inspection of the nest is carried out in autumn in the second half of October and the extreme honeycomb frame is removed from the nest by the cold diaphragm, if it is less than half brooded by bees. In January-February, an additional inspection is carried out, the nest is insulated from above and to limit it from the empty space of the hive, from where the extreme honeycomb frame was removed, warm diaphragm is installed, which is made from 2 sheets of plywood with insulation laid between them. In case of insufficient amount of fodder, between cold and warm diaphragms an additional honeycomb frame with honey is installed, which is preliminarily held in a warm room for 48 hours.

EFFECT: invention ensures increase of productivity of bees, increase of their safety, productivity and reduction of labor and material resources costs.
