FIELD: construction.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to construction and is intended to determine the frost heaving of the soil in the laboratory. The method for determining soil frost heave includes placing a sample in a tubular capsule with an open top and freezing it. The sample is frozen without liquid being supplied to it, ensuring the movement of the freezing front from top to bottom at a speed characteristic of the construction area, after the front reaches the established depth, the decrease in moisture in the lower unfrozen part of the sample is determined, and the heaving deformations of the soil are calculated from the given dependence.
EFFECT: ensuring the determination of frost heaving when the freezing front moves along the axis of the sample at a given speed and without supplying liquid to it, simplifying the instrument used.
