FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology. For differential diagnosis of friendly and unfriendly strabismus in patients with binocular diplopia, the Hirschberg deviation angle and the size of the prism compensating for diplopia are determined. The value of the ratio of the diplopia-compensating prism to the deviation angle in prism diopters/degree is calculated. If the ratio value is two or less, unfriendly strabismus is diagnosed, if the value is more than two, friendly strabismus is diagnosed.
EFFECT: method simplifies and objectifies the differential diagnosis of friendly and unfriendly strabismus in patients with binocular diplopia, which allows timely selection of adequate treatment for the patient's condition.
