SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for air cleaning. Adapter (1) for use in connection system (2) for detachable connection of an air filter cartridge with an air filter assembly housing comprises first surface area (4), made with possibility of connection with possibility of rotation with connection element (6) of connection system (2) on side of housing, and second surface area (8), preferably made with possibility of connection without possibility of rotation with connection element (10) of connection system (2) on side of cartridge. Cartridges, connection systems and air filter assemblies are described.

EFFECT: providing an improved air filter cartridge and a specially designed air filter assembly with improved ability to prevent, at least reduce the probability, at least to make more recognizable installation or use of an unacceptable or incorrect air filter cartridge in a specially designed air filter unit.
