FIELD: presence-detecting.
SUBSTANCE: claimed invention relates to a method and system for processing data of a cloud of (lidar) points based on optical detection and ranging (LIDAR). The method is implemented by means of an electronic apparatus connected with the possibility of communication with a lidar installed on a vehicle, wherein the lidar has multiple lasers for capturing data of a cloud of lidar points. The method includes: receiving the first data of the cloud of lidar points captured by the lidar; executing a machine learning algorithm (MLA) by means of an electronic apparatus for the following: analysis of a first set of lidar points from the first data of the cloud of points relative to the response pattern of multiple lasers; extracting representation data in the form of a grid of the surrounding area of the vehicle; determining that the first set of lidar points is associated with a blind zone, wherein the blind zone prevents the detection algorithm of the electronic apparatus from detecting the presence of at least one object in the environment of the vehicle caused by at least one object being present.
EFFECT: invention allows for an increased orientation of the vehicle in space.
