FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to high-voltage pulse technology, in particular, to power switching tools of pulse current generators during use in electric discharge technology for electrohydropulse destruction, crushing and disintegration of materials. The result is achieved by the fact that the structure of the "Power spark gap" comprises electrodes, placed in an insulating body, arranged relative to each other so as to form a discharge gap, the first of the electrodes is fixed to the body, and the second one is rigidly connected with a movable rod, the reciprocating movement whereof from the "closed" (non-conductive) to the "open" (conducting) state of the spark gap is executed by means of the magnetic pulse action from the inductor at the command of the control unit, associated with electrically disconnecting the contacts of the high-voltage storage capacitor and the charger from each other.
EFFECT: increase in the reliability and stability of operation of a controlled power spark gap, the operation whereof does not depend on possible changes in the environmental conditions and use, elimination of occurrence of high-voltage interference in the control circuit, charge circuit, external power supply network, allowing for use of inverter power sources for charging high-voltage storage capacitors.
