SUBSTANCE: inventions group relates to the oil and gas industry, in particular, to the technology of extinguishing fires in oil wells during the operation of oil rigs, and can be used at oil production and petrochemical facilities to quickly extinguish fires. The method includes supplying a gas fire extinguishing agent to a fire in an oil well from a cylinder source with a shut-off and starting device through a supply pipeline through a nozzle sprayer directed to the wellhead. The device for implementing the method contains a source of gaseous fire extinguishing agent, which is a battery of modules (1) with an electric shut-off and starting device in each of them, united by a manifold (2) connected to a supply pipeline (3). The end section of the supply pipeline (3) is mounted on the tower (6) of the oil well along its perimeter and is provided with branches (7) installed on the inner sides of the tower support legs. The lower parts of the branches (7) are equipped with nozzle sprayers (8) in the form of Laval nozzles with an oblique cut, which ensure the supply of a gas fire extinguishing agent to the fire site. In addition, a gate valve (4) is installed on the section of the supply pipeline near the tower (6) of the oil well, which has a spring (5) made of a shape memory material as a drive element for automatic operation of the device in case of fire, expanding with increasing temperature with the possibility of acting on the wedge gate valves and simultaneous closing of the electrical circuit for actuation of the shut-off and starting devices of the modules of the gas fire extinguishing agent source.

EFFECT: expanding the arsenal of technical means for extinguishing fires at oil wells located in remote hard-to-reach places.
