FIELD: fire protection.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the oil and gas industry, in particular to methods for extinguishing fires during the operation of oil towers. The method for extinguishing borehole fires with a powder extinguishing agent consists in delivering a powder extinguishing agent in a protective shell to the fire source, destroying it and feeding the powder to the fire source. The powder is delivered in bags of factory packaging and bags are placed on a tower derrick on a platform fixed to the racks, made in the form of a horizontal lattice frame, at the location of the balcony, and holding the bags along the inner perimeter of the tower derrick directly above the fire source, while the thermal effect from the fire source destroys the packaging of the bags and the powder is poured onto the fire source.
EFFECT: expanding the arsenal of technical means used to extinguish fires during the operation of oil tower derricks in order to increase fire safety during the operation of oil equipment.
