FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology. A method for the treatment and prevention of corneal transplant rejection reaction, which includes membrane plasmapheresis during the week preceding or following keratoplasty, consisting of three sessions lasting from one and a half to three hours with an interval of one to two days. During plasmapheresis, 25 to 30% of the volume of circulating plasma separated from the erythrocyte mass using a plasma filter is removed, followed by reinfusion of the erythrocyte mass back to the patient after each session and compensation of the removed volume by diluting the erythrocyte mass with isotonic sodium chloride solution in a volume exceeding at least than 20% of the volume of plasma removed per session.
EFFECT: method allows to reduce the intensity of the immune system response to the antigenic load associated with a donor corneal transplant, and, accordingly, to reduce the risk of rejection of the corneal transplant.
