FIELD: pulp and paper industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the pulp and paper industry, in particular, to the production of paper for the manufacture of banknotes and valuable documents requiring extended circulation time. A method for making paper for banknotes and valuable documents is proposed, including the preparation of paper pulp containing natural and synthetic fibers and fillers, the molding of the paper web and the processing of the paper web with a solvent containing N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide and water, followed by the removal of the solvent from the paper, characterized in that the processing time of the paper in the solvent is from 2 to 10 seconds, the solvent is removed from the paper by washing at a temperature of no more than 60°C, and the paper after washing is dried at a temperature of no more than 100°C. The paper produced by the claimed method is proposed.

EFFECT: high whiteness, opacity and good physical and mechanical characteristics of the paper.
