FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: electric heating cable (100) comprises a first power supply conductor (1), a second power supply conductor (2), and a third power supply conductor (3). Each of the first, second and third power supply conductors (1, 2, 3) extends along the length of the cable (100). The electric heating cable (100) additionally comprises the body (7) of an electrically conductive heating element, wherein the first, second and third power supply conductors (1, 2, 3) are electrically interconnected through the body (7) of the electrically conductive heating element. The second power supply conductor (2) is provided with a layer of an electrical insulating material (11), covering only part of the surface (4) of the second power supply conductor (2). The layer (11) is provided between the surface (4) of the second power supply conductor (2) and the body (7) of the electrically conductive heating element, wherein the layer of the insulating material is configured to limit the proportion of the surface of the second power supply conductor electrically connected with the body of the electrically conductive heating element so that the surface area of the second power supply conductor not covered by the layer of the insulating material is less than each of the following: the surface area of the first power supply conductor, electrically connected with the body of the electrically conductive heating element, and the surface area of the third power supply conductor, electrically connected with the body of the electrically conductive heating element.
EFFECT: electric heating cable, such as a three-phase electric heating cable, wherein the load imbalance on the three phases of the cable is reduced.
