FIELD: heat power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to heat engineering, particularly to operation of cooling towers. Method of preventing ice formation in cooling tower, excluding moisture condensation on surfaces of cooling tower mouth, in which ambient air temperature is measured, fixed and analysed. In case of fixation of ambient air temperature below 0 °C, controlled, depending on ambient air temperature, heat is supplied to the mouth of the cooling tower, for which, at least along the entire perimeter on the inner and upper surfaces of the framing of the upper part of the cooling tower, a self-regulating cable is installed, which is made with possibility to change resistance and amount of released heat under effect of ambient air temperature change, and is connected to power cable, which, in its turn, is connected to electric mains via control cabinet, at that self-regulating cable control cabinet is made with function of measurement, fixation and analysis of ambient air temperature.
EFFECT: prevention of ice formation in the mouth of the cooling tower to increase the efficiency of the cooling tower operation and increase the overhaul period in the season of low temperatures at thermal and nuclear power plants.
