FIELD: electrical cables.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an electrical cable for vertical applications containing a core having a length L, a shell surrounding the core and extending along the entire length L, and a reinforced skin surrounding the shell and being in direct contact with it. The reinforced skin is made of concentric layers containing a first layer extending longitudinally from the first end of the cable (near or upper end of the cable in service) to the second end of the cable (to the far or lower end of the cable in service) along the entire length L. The reinforced skin also contains at least one additional layer extending longitudinally from the first end of the cable to the second end of the cable for a shorter length than L. At least one layer of the reinforced skin is a metal tube closed at the periphery. A method for manufacturing such a cable is also disclosed.

EFFECT: invention provides protection against mechanical penetration of fluids, while providing resistance to corrosive fluids, to guarantee the protection of the cable core for as long as possible, for example, a period of 2-10 years.
