FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a moulded material for producing carbon clusters using biomass as the primary raw material. The method for producing the material for producing carbon clusters includes producing an initial material containing calcined plant biomass and a binder; moulding, preferably in the form of a rod, optionally additionally firing and graphitising the initial material at a temperature of 2,500°C or higher. The biomass is calcined at a temperature of 1,000 to 1,300°C. The resulting graphitised material has an electrical resistance of 100 mcohm·m or less, the diffraction pattern obtained by X-ray diffraction has one peak within the range of values 2θ(θ is the Bragg angle) from 26° to 27°, and the value of 1/3 of the width of the peak divided by the base of the peak is 0.68 or less. Fullerene-containing soot is produced from the resulting moulded material under the impact of an electric arc discharge.
EFFECT: resource-conserving, environmentally safe, and industrially applicable method for producing a material for producing carbon clusters.
