FIELD: ventilation.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of operation of natural ventilation systems in apartments of an apartment building (AB). Presented is a method for preventing the entry of tobacco scent from one apartment of an apartment building (AB) to another apartment of the AB through building structures separating the apartments, consisting in rarefying the air in the apartment with a tobacco scent relative to the actual atmospheric air pressure in the other apartment by the operation of at least one mechanical ventilation apparatus - a fan installed on the exhaust outlet of one of the natural exhaust ventilation ducts provided in the apartment - in the apartment with a tobacco scent. This rarefaction is ensured by providing check valves on the exhaust outlets of the ventilation ducts or by the fans on the other natural exhaust ventilation ducts where fans are disabled or absent, wherein minimal air flow is provided through the windows of the apartment, for this purpose set to the micro-ventilation mode, i.e. slit ventilation, or slightly opened to the required length of the leaf, so that the flow rate of the air removed by the working fans or fan is no more than one and a half to two times greater than the air flow rate through the ventilation ducts of the apartment with the natural draft of said ventilation ducts. The technical result consists in ensuring the required rarefaction in the apartment with a tobacco scent relative to the actual atmospheric air pressure in the adjacent apartments for the entire period from the time of occurrence of the tobacco scent in the apartment until the tobacco scent is completely removed. The criterion for the correctness of setting the windows to the required MV mode (i.e. optimal position thereof in the MV mode) is considered to be a sufficient level of rarefaction created in the apartment with a simultaneous certain air exchange therein. After the end of smoking, the above operation mode of the fan is continued until the apartment is fully ventilated from the tobacco scent. After that, the fan can be disabled and the windows set to any position (open, closed or remained in the same position).

EFFECT: tobacco scent does not enter from the apartment with a source of tobacco scent through possible leaks in building structures to adjacent (neighbouring) apartments of the AB.
