SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and can be used to determine indications for targeted navigational laser treatment of focal diabetic macular edema (DME). The presence of edema is determined according to optical coherence tomography (OCT), maximally corrected visual acuity (MCVA) and central retinal thickness. In this case, OCT is performed with angiography function (OCT-A). Additionally, the topographic localization of ischemic zones, the average density of capillaries in the superficial vascular plexus (SVP) and deep vascular complex (DVC), the presence of microaneurysms, the height and area of edema, and foci of prolapse of the ellipsoidal zone are determined according to the HD Angio Retina 6×6 mm protocol on the device "RTVue -100 XR Avanti". In the presence of edema and two or more of the following diagnostic features: ischemic zones are localized in retinal segments from one to six, the average capillary density in the PSS is 45.0% or less and in the DVC 53.1% or less; microaneurysms are present; foci of prolapse of the ellipsoidal zone with a length of more than 77 microns, edema height from 250 microns to 400 microns, edema area less than 2.16 mm2, MCVA more than 0.6-0.7, then targeted navigational laser treatment of focal diabetic macular edema is indicated.

EFFECT: method provides timely selection of patients for targeted navigational laser treatment of focal DME due to selection criteria determined using OCT.
