SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to ophthalmology and endocrinology, and can be used for prevention of diabetic retinopathy progression in pregnant women suffering diabetes mellitus. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) of an anterior eye segment is performed in a projection of a ciliary body with a scanning beam perpendicular to 3 mm from a limb. Examination is carried out at 3 and 9 o’clock. If observing an increase in the vascular layer of the ciliary body by 10% and more in 1 and more points compared to the initial examination, the number of examinations is increased to 1 time a month, and panretinal laser coagulation is also performed.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to increase efficiency of prevention of diabetic retinopathy progression in pregnant women suffering diabetes mellitus due to timely detection of objective prognostic OCT-criterion of diabetic retinopathy progression risk.
