SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of mechanical engineering. Chain variator contains driving and driven pulleys installed on parallel shafts of spline connection, including pairs of cone-shaped half-pulleys movable along the shafts with slots forming trapezoidal sectors and jumpers in the form of ribs of rectangular section with a wedge-shaped head, articulated by hubs, and with through longitudinal-radial slots, made with the possibility of entry-exit of half-pulleys into each other, and an element of flexible resilient connection. For engagement, a chain with profiled protrusions and a spring enclosing the chain, the coils of which are located on the chain links between the profiled protrusions of the chain and between the bridges in the slots of the half-pulleys, are introduced as an element of a flexible resilient connection. The bridges between the slots are made in the form of ribs of rectangular section with a wedge-shaped head formed by profile chamfers, and the slots forming a trapezoidal sector are made with the possibility of ensuring the convenience of the spring coils engaging with the half-pulley bridges, in addition, the number of chain links is determined by profiled protrusions, depending on number of half-pulley jumpers.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of the variator.
