FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: closed multi-link chain of a chain drive is made from odd and even links (2, 3) accordingly. Links are alternately hingedly connected between each other with fingers (4, 5) to outer ledges (6) for engagement with slots on master and slave conical wheels of a variator. The chain is covered with a closed flexible element outside and the second flexible element installed inside the first one. Links (2, 3) are arranged each in the form of a pair of flat stepped cheeks (12) and rigidly connected to each other by flat or cylindrical crosspieces (13), installed on the longitudinal axis of symmetry of the link. Flexible elements are placed as capable of reciprocal displacement in gaps between crosspieces (13) and connecting fingers (4) of chain links.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to reduce impact dynamic loads in a chain drive with simultaneous increase of torsional rigidity.
