FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of mechanical engineering, the production of threads on parts operating under alternating loads and under conditions of abrasive wear. The method includes surface electrical contact tempering and the formation of a complete thread profile with a thread-forming tool moving along a helical line, with electric heating of the workpiece installed with the possibility of rotation. At the same time, before threading, electrical contact tempering of the surface of a smooth cylindrical workpiece is performed with a rotating conductive tool with a feed less than the width of the contact surface of the tool, which provides overlap of the tempered sections, and with subsequent thread formation by cutting methods. At the same time, the top of the thread-forming tool is adjusted along the middle of the sections of the overlap zones.
EFFECT: improved thread quality is achieved by increasing wear resistance and strength and increasing processing performance.
