SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in internal combustion engines. A cylinder-piston group contains cylinder (1), piston with groove (2) and split compression ring (3) of variable thickness. To limit an angle of rotation of compression ring (3) in piston groove (2) and cylinder (1), the inner surface of the groove is made oval with a large diameter perpendicular to the axis of piston pin (4), with compliance with the condition: a_max>s_min, where a_max is the maximum thickness of split compression ring (3), s_min is the minimum gap between the inner surface of piston groove (2) and cylinder (1).

EFFECT: increase in the tightness of a cylinder-piston group.
