FIELD: hydrogen production.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a complex method for the oxidative dehydrogenation of alkanes and the production of hydrogen, in which carbon dioxide from the off-gas section of the pressure swing adsorption unit (PSA) of the hydrogen generation unit (HGU), as well as alkanes from any known source, are sent to the oxidative dehydrogenation unit (ODU) for production high quality olefins such as ethylene, propylene and butene. The products of the reaction taking place in the ODU reactor are separated and a stream consisting of hydrogen, carbon monoxide and methane is returned to the ODU shift reactor for increased hydrogen production in the PSA.

EFFECT: use of the proposed method allows the production of high-quality petrochemical raw materials, such as ethylene and propylene, through the use of existing refinery units; use carbon dioxide from the off-gas of the existing PSA HGU, which eliminates the need for an additional carbon dioxide purification system; enables the production of hydrogen in the ODU process, which would otherwise be lost in the form of water; provides increased production of hydrogen in HGU through processing of CO obtained in the process of the ODU reaction; eliminates the need for a separate hydrogen separation system; eliminates the need for a separate CO reduction/conversion system.
