CONTROLLED ROTARY SYSTEM WITH CUTTERS Russian patent published in 2022 - IPC E21B7/06

Abstract RU 2773910 C2

FIELD: engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a controlled rotary tool, a layout of the bottom of the drill string, and a method for drilling a curvilinear borehole. The controlled rotary tool comprises a tool body with an upper end and a lower end. The tool body comprises at least one drilling control unit extending from the tool body, and at least one drilling control actuating mechanism configured to extend beyond other parts of the drilling control unit. At least one cutter is located on the intermediate passive surface of the rotary tool at a distance from at least one drilling control actuating mechanism. The controlled rotary tool, excluding at least one cutter, has a first diameter when the actuating mechanism is not extended and at least one cutter is located at a fixed diameter larger than the first diameter. The layout of the bottom of the drill string comprises a drill bit, a drilling control unit, at least one drilling control unit, at least one cutter on the drilling control unit. The method for drilling a curvilinear borehole includes drilling a borehole using the drill bit, rotating the controlled rotary tool above the drill bit, selectively activating the controlled rotary tool to divert the drill bit in the direction from the wellbore, milling the curvilinear borehole using at least one cutter.

EFFECT: improved bending ability of the controlled rotary system, increased operating life and reliability thereof, and improved quality of the wellbore.
