The invention is a method for increasing the milk productivity and milk quality of dairy cows, which includes genotyping Holstein cows for the GPX-1 gene with the identification of animals with CC, TC, TT genotypes and the inclusion in the diet of highly productive cows in the first lactation period, mainly with CC and TC genotypes as a cofactor in the expression of genes encoding the activity of the endogenous antioxidant defense system of the body, organic selenium preparation Sel-Plex to a total dose of selenium of 0.42 mg/kg of dry matter of the diet of lactating highly productive cows in the first period of lactation, i.e. within 100 days (i.e. the first lactation period).

EFFECT: invention allows optimizing physiological and biochemical processes in the body at the gene level and provides an increase in the milk productivity of cow populations with CC and TC genotypes by 9.1 and 7.3% in terms of the basic fat content of milk with its high quality in relation to control; at the same time, the costs of metabolic energy and crude protein of the diet per unit of production are reduced by 6.8-8.4% and 6.8-8.3%, respectively.
